Employer of Choice Initiatives
As one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore area Goodwill strives to be a true leader in corporate responsibility and as such has continually emphasized the need to be an Employer of Choice.
Employer of Choice Initiatives include (but are not limited too) a comprehensive Wellness Program which includes a weight loss challenge which incorporates regular weigh ins with certified diet experts and smoking cessation program.
Goodwill has also actively sought to educate all employees on fiscal responsibility and financial planning through yearly Financial Wellness Fairs. Once a year Goodwill invites a wide variety of financial institutions, social service agencies, and health care professionals to attend a morning Goodwill sponsored breakfast for all 600+ Goodwill employees. Past agency attendees have included Live! Baltimore, T Rowe Price, YMCA, MECU, Cash Campaign, Maryland Fuel Fund, and Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Goodwill employees also have the ability to receive aid in purchasing a new vehicle through a revolutionary partnership with Vehicles for Change. With rising health care and fuel costs making it harder and harder for the average American worker to afford luxuries such as car ownership Goodwill sought to help all employees by offering a vehicle purchasing program that guarantees affordability for all qualified buyers. By donating your used car to Vehicles for Change (http://www.vehiclesforchange.org/) you are helping someone gain the safety and opportunity car ownership provides.
