Goodwill Supporters:

I hope you are staying safe in these trying times. We are experiencing unprecedented events that have affected each of us greatly. I wanted to send you an update from Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. As you know, given Governor Hogan’s mandate, we have temporarily closed down all of our operations including our workforce development programs and retail stores and donation centers.

Support from the public through donations sold in our stores fund 70% of our mission of helping people get back to work in Central Maryland and the Eastern Shore. When we re-open we expect the need of our most vulnerable citizens to be greater than it has ever been with unemployment rates expected to be over 25%. Our participants face even greater barriers including a lack of education, no work experience and many other barriers to employment.

I assure you will always deliver our mission! The need is too great is our community. We are still committed to changing lives through the power of work. Last year we placed people into over 2,000 jobs. Due to COVID-19, businesses have been forced to close leaving many individuals out of gainful employment. As an organization, we are strategizing ways we can help our community during this time of need.

We ask that you consider a financial donation. Since our stores are closed, we are losing revenue that helps provide access to life changing supportive services and employment opportunities. Your donation has an immediate, positive impact for us. If you have the ability to donate, you can click on the link.

We’ve been inspired by how communities are coming together during these uncertain times, and we’re so grateful for your support no matter how you help!

With Appreciation,
