Declutter Your Home Without Cluttering the Planet

Spring cleaning is a powerful way to breathe new life into your living space, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of our environment. When you donate your pre-loved clothing, housewares, and other material goods to Goodwill, you ensure those items find a second life rather than taking up space in a landfill.

By clearing out the things you no longer need, you create a more peaceful home for yourself while supplying affordable, sustainable options for your neighbors. It is a simple act of letting go that sparks a chain reaction of positivity and environmental responsibility.

Create Real, Sustainable Change

At Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, we believe donated goods have the power to change lives, strengthen communities, and create a healthier environment. In 2025 alone, we diverted nearly 10 million pounds of goods from the landfill through recycling and salvage efforts.

With your help, we recycled 574,163 lbs of scrap metal; 303,880 lbs of cardboard; 312,000 lbs of soft plastic; and 6,360 lbs of glass. Through our salvage efforts, we also gave a second chance to 6,740,112 lbs of textiles; 1,485,913 lbs of books; 572,922 lbs of shoes; and 238,646 lbs of accessories

Join the Circle of Hope

When you step into Goodwill to refresh your spring style, you are doing so much more than updating your look. You are shopping with profound purpose. Every thrifted dress or vintage home accent you purchase helps fund life-changing community programs.

Around 97 cents out of every dollar spent in our stores flows directly back into the community, funding critical workforce development and job placement services. Your purchases support an adult high school and Early Head Start Centers, ensuring that people of all ages have the resources they need to thrive. This is our circle of hope: your donated goods become retail treasures, and those retail treasures become the foundation for someone’s fresh start.
