Learn the Facts about Goodwill

By June 26, 2018No Comments2 min read

Goodwill Supporters:

It seems there is false information being reported about Goodwill and about our organization for a while. It is called Think Before You Donate and lists different “facts” about non-profit organizations including Goodwill. It is completely false and erroneous, and has been in circulation for a few years. In the attempt to discredit reputable nonprofits, it lists false information about the Goodwill CEO and how our organization uses its revenue.

Mark Curran has NEVER been our “CEO and Owner” and has NEVER been the “CEO and Owner” of ANY Goodwill member agency. Jim Gibbons is the CEO of Goodwill Industries International. The Goodwill movement is comprised of 165 member organizations with each local Goodwill agency operating under the direction of an autonomous board of directors.

Locally, Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake has a local President & CEO, Lisa Rusyniak, a local board of directors, and we are NOT owned by any individual or company. 91% of our revenue generated goes to support our programs. (CharityWatch considers a charity to be highly efficient when end calculations produce a Program % of 75% or higher).
