GO GREEN EVERY DAY With The Perfect To-Go Kit

Earth Day is this week, but you can celebrate every day. One way you can do your part to reduce waste is by embracing reusable alternatives when you’re eating at a restaurant or anywhere on the go. Here are a few simple items you can thrift at your local Goodwill to help you be prepared.

Reusable Bags:
These are the perfect way to keep your kit together. They’re great for running to the store and are useful for transporting food. Skip the flimsy plastic and go reusable.
Cloth Napkins:
Pass on the paper and go for a cloth option instead. They’re practical, washable and durable. It’s so simple to just throw a few into your kit.
Metal Straws:
Make plastic straws a thing of the past by keeping a few of these on hand. As an added bonus, you’ll never have to contend with the occasional and much dreaded punctured straw.
Reusable Drinkware/Travel Mugs:
Keep your drinks warmer or colder longer with travel mugs. Do what you can to avoid disposable drinkware.
Divided Containers:
These are great for bringing lunches or taking leftovers home. Skip the Styrofoam and plastic to-go boxes when you dine out.
Silverware:
Keeping silverware on hand is helpful for avoiding disposable plastic alternatives. Silverware is also easy to clean. Keep a few sets on hand so you can wash and rotate.
Glass Jars:
A simple glass jar makes for a great small container for all your snacks or drinks.
Small Containers:
It’s nice to have a few small containers for dry snacks or smaller to-go items. Look for flexibility and convenience. That’s a must in any kit.

Preparing your own zero-waste kit is a fun challenge that will help you avoid unnecessary trash and single-use items in your daily routine. Create your own and share any new ideas you discover by tagging us on social media @bmoregoodwill
