Leadership Announcement: Welcome John Stoffel as Chief Retail Officer

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is thrilled to announce the appointment of John Stoffel as our new Chief Retail Officer.

In this pivotal role, John will oversee our retail stores, donation centers, e-commerce, operations, and sustainability initiatives, helping to drive innovation and impact across our organization.

John brings more than two decades of executive leadership in retail operations and marketing. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Retail at Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina, where he led operations generating over $85 million in annual revenue. His strategic vision and operational excellence were instrumental in advancing the mission and performance of the organization.

His career also includes leadership roles at Kim’s Grocery Stores & J Cole Distributing, where he managed the P&L for 31 stores and spearheaded initiatives in warehouse logistics, mobile app development, and e-commerce expansion. Earlier, John spent 18 years at Albertsons Companies, holding senior roles such as District Manager and Grocery Sales Manager, overseeing districts with annual revenues exceeding $650 million and leading teams of more than 4,000 employees.

John’s academic credentials include a degree in Food Industry Management from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor of Business Administration, and a Master of Science in Psychology. He is currently furthering his leadership journey through the Executive and Strategic Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
