Supporting Families and Building Bright Futures with Goodwill’s New Early Head Start Centers

By July 1, 2025July 10th, 2025No Comments4 min read

At Goodwill, we believe in empowering individuals and transforming communities. That’s why we are excited to announce that we are acquiring two new Early Head Start Centers in Baltimore, dedicated to providing Early Head Start programs for families in need. These centers, located at 2707 Sethlow Road and 1803 N Dukeland Street, are here to support parents and children during their most critical years of growth and development.

Why Early Head Start Matters

Every parent wants the best for their child, but the first three years of a child’s life can be especially challenging without the right resources and support. Early Head Start is here to make a difference. This completely free program is built around the needs of young children and their families.

Goodwill Early Head Start

Here’s how Early Head Start benefits families who participate:

  • Encouraging Healthy Development

Through activities tailored to promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, children receive the nurturing they need to flourish. Whether it’s a playful parent-child interaction or developmental childcare services, every aspect is designed with the well-being of the child in mind.

  • Empowering Parents to Thrive

We know parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. That’s why we offer guidance to help parents build effective caregiving and parenting skills. From connecting families with essential resources to offering prenatal education and support, this program is about more than just childcare. It’s about creating strong, resilient families.

  • Building Community Connections

Parenting was never meant to be done alone, and Early Head Start helps foster a supportive network. At our centers, families bond with one another while also gaining access to public and private resources they may not have known existed.

  • No Cost, No Barriers

This program comes at no cost to families, ensuring that every parent, regardless of financial standing, can access the tools and opportunities they deserve.

Two Locations, One Shared Mission

Our new centers embody our commitment to meeting the unique needs of Baltimore families. Here’s what you need to know about each location:

  • 2707 Sethlow Road, Baltimore, MD

Families with children aged six weeks to 36 months in neighborhoods like Cherry Hill, Brooklyn, and surrounding areas can benefit from individualized early education experiences.

  • 1803 N Dukeland Street, Baltimore, MD

Operated as part of the Childcare Scholarship Program, this center is available for families where members over 18 work or attend school full-time (30+ hours/week).

Providing Support Beyond Education

For families who’ve already participated in the program, the results speak volumes. “The program didn’t just teach my kids; it saved our family,” shared one parent. “They connected me with resources I didn’t know I needed, and now I feel more confident in providing for my children.”

Our mission extends far beyond education. Early Head Start is about creating brighter futures and stronger communities, giving parents the skills and connections they need to succeed.
